Sport Family of Tires at BikeBandit.com Colin Edwards tests street tires on his GP race bike Valentino Rossi, the Michelin Man, and the Pilot Power 2CT

Product Details

The Pilot Power 2CT tire is a track day tire that is equally at home on the road. Tubeless, dual-compound radial for track or performance street riding with a tread surface divided into three separate areas featuring two different rubber compounds. The intermediate center compound provides durability, and the softer rubber mix on the edges of the tread yields phenomenal cornering grip, and unprecedented lean angles.

Great Tire
First of all the service from Bike Bandit was awesome. My tire shipped immediate and arrived without issue.

I have had great success with running this tire. They do not last very long but the grip and feel is great. I usually get about 6,000 miles out of my rear and 12,000 out of the front.

Great quality tire for me!
I don't put a lot of miles on my vehicles because I have too many - so I don't wear tires out, just typcally replace due to aging. Although I no longer scrape the pegs when riding this softer compound more intended for serious sport riding feels great and improves my safety margin when riding. Although this tire won't get the mileage of the more expensive touring type tires it is great for me and anyone like me who only rides their bike occasionally. You can save the money spent on the higher mileage tires for a new set of 2CTs 5 years down the road!

Excellent for twisties, 6000 miles
I like this tire a lot, because it is very sticky for the twisties that I am lucky enough to ride on my daily commute. I was able to increase my cornering speed and confidence and eliminate my chicken strips, compared to my favorite tire, the Pilot Power 3. Unfortunately, I only got 6000 miles out of my 2CT, while I got 10,000 miles from my PP3, with similarly aggressive riding styles and the same commute. (When I rode strictly on the freeway for my previous commute, with occasional weekend twisties, I got 20,000 miles out of my PP3 rear tire!) I prefer the longevity of the PP3, but it doesn't seem to be available in my size anymore. So, if you want a sticky, confidence-boosting tire for the twisties, this is an excellent tire. If you want more miles between tire changes, but a tire that still has soft, sticky shoulders, consider the Pilot Power 3, if it's still available in your size.
P.s.: I'm riding a 47 hp CBR500R that doesn't exactly devour tires. A 200 hp supersport might have different longevity figures.

All around great tire
A great tire for track days or street. The dual compound is nice; the softer outer part of the tires allow for good grip in the corners. An all around great tire.

Will a 200/55/17 fit a stock 03 CBR 954RR?
Jonathan B on Jun 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question! The 2003 CBR954 requires a 190/50-17, if you go with a 200/55/17, the tire will be wider and may rub on some of the suspension and drive train components. Also since the tire will be wider that stock, the bike may handle differently, so far safety reason we can only recommend the original size tire. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you by contacting us by email at [email protected], Live Chat or by phone toll free at 1-888-339-3888. WILL THE 190/55-17 FIT ON A 4.5" WHEEL? THANKS FOR ANY HELP.
A shopper on May 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question! This tire size will mount on a 4.5 wheel, but we do recommend using the original size tire your machine came with for safety reasons. It appears that the front tire size I need is only available in a Z (148 mph) while the rear tire size is only available in a W (168 mph). Since my 2006 Ninja 650r's top speed is rated at 147, it is unlikely I would ever reach 148 mph. Would there be any potential problems if I ran the Z in front and W in the rear? Currently, both tires on the 650r are Z rated. Thanks in advance.
Ninja 650r Commuter on Feb 16, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Great question! There would be no issues with running tires with different speed ratings. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
i need a tire with a hard center and a softer sides because that was what i was told because of how i ride so what i want toask is the Michelin Pilot Power 2CT Motorcycle Tire made like that
Gravy on Feb 3, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! Yes the is a dual compound tire to suit your needs.
what is the difference between the W and Z rated tire?
null on May 16, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! The W is rated up to 168 mph and the z is rated to 149 mph.
How old are these tires?
Skid on Apr 25, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! The tires will be new coming straight from michelin.
I have an 07 ZX-10r(stock) and have been thinking about buying the 2CT's for my bike. I've heard everything from they're the best tire to probs w/balancing, tire pressure, straight line wobble at speed, drifting in turns etc. Your opinion is appreciated. I would describe my riding as aggressive street and occasional track riding. Thanks,
-Ronnie-
null on Apr 6, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for writing in. We have had none or very few complaints about this tire . It is designed for aggressive riding but is also a compound that is not going to wear out fast, which is common with tires specific for track use. This tire would be for someone who does commuting or regular street riding that also wants to go fast occasionally.
What is the weight of the tire?
Ferbare on Oct 28, 2010
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! Unfortunately the manufacturer has not supplied us with the weight of the tire. You may want to contact Michelin directly for this information.
Will it fit on my bike?

Do you think a 190/55 ZR 17 tire will fit on my 2003 Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 Ninja? Currently I run a a 180/55 zr 17, but I want a wider tire and I want to know if a 190 will be too big or even if it will go on my rim?
Dubldip on Mar 29, 2010
BEST ANSWER: It will fit but if you like to hit the curves I would not advise it, it will throw off you curve alinement.
what is the difference between the Z and W in the pilot power ct?
mutto on Mar 10, 2010
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! The letters you are viewing would be speed ratings, the W speed rating would be good for up to 168mph and the Z would be good up to 186mph or above
