The MT21 in combination with a D606 rear is the best tire combo for my XR650L. The set lasts one season (2500 miles or so) of hard riding but never lets me down. Grips in sand, mud, rocks, wet roots, etc. Decent road manners for a knobbie. Don't expect supermoto handling; this is an off-road, DOT tire. Great for any small to mid-size dual sport.

Very good for on/offroad

Exact fit for machine, Pirelli reputation for performance, positive reviews on website made this tire the best choice.
Joe L on Mar 17, 2019
Been riding these on my dual sports in the desert for more than 10 years, and still buzz around town on them too. Not rough or loud.. Super solid tire, and surprisingly good grip on the highway and through the twisties too! A true dual sport tire!

Rear of a dirt oriented DS. These last well work on hard pack, rock and dry- slick, only passible on dirt and sand. Better on dirt and sand than others though.

I chose this as the front tire on my XR650L after reading lots of online reviews about combinations using this tire. There are many tire choices so you have to choose based on how you will use your bike. I compared how I ride to how others, who ride like me, set up their bikes and put on similar tires.
Jesse P on Feb 18, 2017
Pretty tried and true dualsport tire.
I like the MT21 front. Is a decent offroad tire that doesn't get destroyed with a little pavement like most true offroad tires do.
Philip M on Dec 27, 2016
I have had these tires in the past. The knobs on the side make all the difference in the world when in soft sand. Once the center is worn out I can always just keep "turning from side to side" to keep going in soft sand.
Joe M on Sep 7, 2016
Matches my rear tire, tread pattern looks good.
Kevin D on Jun 2, 2019
great off road tire

Can the MT21 be used tubeless on a 91 BMW R100GS PD? It looks like a great tire.
A shopper on Aug 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for asking! This tire can most certainly be used on your machine. However, it is a tube type tire and we therefore do not recommend that you use it tubeless. We hope this helps. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you by contacting us by email at [email protected], Live Chat or by phone toll free at 1-888-339-3888. We are always more than happy to help.
Does it come with an inner tube?
A shopper on May 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for the question! The Pirelli MT 21 Motorcycle Tire does not include the inner tube, it is sold separately. I attached a link below to the Dirt bike tire tubes available. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you by contacting us by email at [email protected], Live Chat or by phone toll-free at 1-888-339-3888. I have a CRF 230L what is the largest tire i can put on this bike, Front and Rear.
Thanks,
Stefan
Stefan on Jan 21, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! For safety and a correct fit we recommend sticking with the OEM sizes on tires unless otherwise noted by the manufacturer. Please feel free to give us a call if you have any questions 1-888-339-3888.
My bike uses front tire size 80/100-21 M/C 51P. Should I get the 80/90 or the 90/90 tires? I've used the Pirelli MT-21's in the past, and loved them, but I always just let the shop order them.
Richard on Mar 8, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question! We would recommend the 80/90-21 for your machine.
IS THE 140/80 A WIDER TIRE THAN THE OTHERS?
null on Oct 10, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question.

Yes the 140 will be wider than the other sizes. The 140 is the tire width in MM and the 80 is the aspect ratio and the 18 is the rim size.
what's the difference between a P and R speed rating?
Porgan on Aug 7, 2009
BEST ANSWER: The different between them would be that the P is rated for 93MPH and the R is rated at 106MPH.

Major upgrade over stock CRF250L
Purchased as a replacement for stock rubber on CRF250L Rally. Easy to install, stick like glue and 1000% better than the IRC's that came with the bile.

Only down side, front after 400 miles is wearing a bit strange and have been running at 25psi F/R on the street, 20psi F/R in the dirt and think wear pattern is due to street, so will up to 28psi to see if that resolves the issue?

Not my first set and have gotten great life out of them. DOT rated for the highway and provide good grip in the woods.

only short rides, but love them so far!
Put these on my DR200SE and they seem to be a significant upgrade from what was previously on it.
Haven't had them on the road yet. However - took them for spins around the gravel pit with friends and they handled mud, sandiness, and mixed rock/dirt really well!

dual sport tires
these tires griped really well for me inmost all conditions . not quite as good as true off road tires I've had in the gooey bog black mud we have here in Vt. they were a lot better on pavement and slippery wet rocks than other sets I've used. They also passed state inspection no problem. My KLX is street legal! Thanks to Drew at Bike Bandit for help getting tire sizes right.
